6 slices Ben’s® Whole-Wheat Bread
1/4 cup (60 mL) butter, melted
Prepared white icing
Gingerbread Spice Mix:
2 tbsp (30 mL) ground cinnamon
2 tbsp (30 mL) ground ginger
1 tbsp (15 mL) ground allspice
1 tbsp (15 mL) ground cloves
1 tbsp (15 mL) ground nutmeg
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°). Cut crusts from bread. Roll each slice of bread into 1/8-inch (3 mm) thickness using a rolling pin. Trim to make straight edges.
Gingerbread Spice Mixture: Mix together cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves and nutmeg.
Whisk 1 tbsp (15 mL) spice mixture with melted butter; brush over bread slices. Place bread on parchment paper–lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until crisp.
“Glue” 4 slices of bread together with icing to form walls of house, then “glue” remaining two slices of bread with icing to form roof. Decorate with icing and candies.
Tip: Gingerbread spice mixture can be stored in an airtight jar for up to 1 month.
