Combine ground pork and ham to create a patty you can easily throw on the grill. Add on pineapple and cheese to make for a instant summer favourite.

  • 1 lb (454 g) Schneiders® Country Naturals® Smoked Ham, chopped

    1 lb (454 g) Ground pork.

    75 cup (175 mL) Bread crumbs

    1 tsp (5 mL) Salt

  • .125 tsp (.5 mL) Pepper.

    75 cup (175 mL) Milk.

    75 cup 175 mL) Brown sugar

    1 tsp (5 mL) Dry mustard.

    25 cup (60 mL) Vinegar.

    25 cup (60 mL) Water

    Pinch of chili flakes

    8  Slices fresh pineapple, cored and peeled

    8  Ben’s® Original Hamburger Buns.

    25 cup (60 mL) Mayonnaise

    2 cups (500 mL) Shredded lettuce

    8  Slices Cheddar cheese


PREHEAT BBQ to medium-high heat.  PLACE ham in a food processor and pulse until evenly ground. Transfer to a bowl and combine with ground pork, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and milk. Form into 8 patties. Chill until ready to cook.  MIX together brown sugar, dry mustard, vinegar, water and chili flakes in a small saucepan. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until sugar has dissolved, about 3-4 minutes.  COAT the BBQ grill lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Place ham patties on the grill and cook for 6-7 minutes per side or until evenly chargrilled and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Place pineapple on the grill. Brush pineapple and ham patties liberally with sauce. Turn and brush once more and cook until pineapple is nicely grilled.  ASSEMBLE by spreading the bottom half of each bun with mayonnaise. Top with lettuce, ham patty, pineapple, a slice of cheese and the other half of the bun.
